We’re going to Jamaica Mon!

Sunny and WarmOne week to go until the next gathering of Our Gourmet Dinner Club. Theme is going to be Jamaican which means tropical drinks and spicey food. Hope everyone has there recipes together and is ready to party! Have not heard from Mike and Maureen about their chosen main dish yet or about the guest couple they are having. So far it will all be a surprise. The countdown is on and next Saturday night will be here before we know it. See you all then!!

Jamaican flag

Cuisine of Jamaica contains cooking techniques, flavors, spices and influences from each of the many waves of immigration to the island. Today, dishes which grace nearly every Jamaican menu include curry goat, fried dumplings, ackee and salt fish (cod) (the national dish of Jamaica), fried plantain, “jerk”, steamed cabbage and “rice and peas” (pigeon peas or kidney beans).
