The Dinner held at Bob and Sally's was a feast fit for a Japanese Emperor. All the regular club members were there and we had a new guest couple, Carrie and Colin Necky. |

The Dinner started at 7:00 and as people arrived we all enjoyed our appetizers for the evening which were hand made sushi rolls prepared by Mike and Maureen. They made Tuna Sushi rolls and Smoked Salmon rolls that were served in the classic Japanese style with pickled ginger, wassabi, and soy sauce. They were excellent and as with all Japanese foods they looked like works of art. |
|
Besides our normal beverages like beers and wine we also sampled some traditional Japanese drinks like Saki and Plum Wine. |
|
After we had our fill of Sushi, or should I say after we finished the sushi, we made our way to the table where we were served our soup of the evening brought by Dan and Pat who made a classic Japanese Miso Soup. A light broth with green onions and tofu or bean curd. Very Oriental! | ![]() |

After the soup Annette and Rink served up a delicious salad made with crisp lettuce dressed in an oriental peanut dressing that was very tasty and also had a very classic Japanese taste. |
|
The Japanese always serve a few pickle dishes with their meals so Sally prepared some sweet pickled cucumbers with ginger and also some fresh pickled ginger. |

The entrée of the evening which Bob and Sally prepared was a combination of Salmon and Chilean Sea Bass Broiled on a bed of green onions and served with fresh asparagus topped with a sauce made with Saki, Soy Sauce, brown sugar, and sweet sherry. The fish was also marinated in the same sauce for 3 hours after being cured in salt for 3 or 4 hours first prior to broiling. |

Our side dish for the evening brought by Jim and Judy Wert was a vegetable stir fry with carrots and greens in an oriental flavored sauce that went perfectly with the main dish. | ![]() |

Man, that was delicious! Now we all sat back and enjoyed some coffee and after dinner drinks as our guests Carrie and Colin prepared the deserts they brought for us all. First we had a little exotic fruit parfait with mango or berry topping and then we had some Japanese pancakes with a sweet filling that were absolutely delicious and quite exotic. |
