Dinner Club gathering held on June l7th, 2000
"No Rain, No Rain, No Rain!", we chanted as we drove towards Tabernacle. This gathering was held at Kathy and Jack's house and the theme was "The Great American Cook Out. All our regular members were in attendance and Kathy and Jack had a guest couple. Their neighbors and friends, The Brown's. (no "E") Neil and Merle. On the drive over to the Tennar's the clouds were dark and lightning could be seen in the distance but the party was going to go on. Rain or Shine. Once everyone arrived we tried to go out side but the rain came. So we ate some appetizers inside while waiting to see what the weather was going to do. The Appetizer was brought by Sally and Bob Browne. It was a Taco Dip made withTaco Flavored Cream Cheese topped with Lettuce, Cheese, and Home Made Salsa and served with with Tortilla Chips. Along with the appetizer, everyone was grabbing a drink and Jack was mixing up some very yummy Frozen Mudslides. In the mean time Jack was at the grill cooking up our entree of huge steaks and Shrimp. And guess what..... The rain stopped so we all could move back outside onto Jack and Kathy's new patio that was created by our man Joe. Great Job Joe!! Now, the Steaks that Jack grilled were no ordinary cuts of meat. They were LARGE, (almost Fred Flintstone size) Steaks, marinated with a special Jack Daniel's Marinade that were perfectly grilled, juicey and tender. Jack also grilled up some very tastey shrimp that were also marinated in the Jack Daniel's Marinate. From the same "Official Jack Daniel's Cookbook" Kathy also prepared some corn bread that was called Mr. Jack's Spoon Berad and was a delicious compliment to the entré's they prepared. Pam and Joe brought the salad. Pam made some delicious Home Made Potato Salad and also a very refreshing Cucumber Salad served with a lite vinigrette dressing. Pat and Dan brought a side dish which was another type of potato salad. Red Skin Potato Salad with Shrimp. Another dish that complimented the Steak terrificly. Maureen and Mike also brought a side dish. They brought Stuffed Portabella Mushrooms. Very exotic and very delicious. After all that it was time for coffee and desert. Kathy served up some fresh brew while Jack gathered up and put some coffee additives out. The deserts were brought by Kathy's guest Merle Brown who missed her calling as a pastry chef. She made a delicious Lemon Cake that was absolutely fantastic and a picture perfect Home Made Blueberry Pie. Following desert as we all sat back holding our bellies while Pam treated us to some songs from her repetiore of classic tunes accompanied by Bob on the guitar. Before we new it the night was over and another great gathering of the Gourmet Dinner Club had come to an end. Until next time!!! -BB-
