A Mexican Fiesta

Gourmet Dinner Club gathering held on October 7, 2000
The gathering was held at Dan and Pat's house and the theme was Mexican.

The Gourmet Dinner Club Gathering at Dan and Pats on October 7th is now only a memory!

In attendance were Dan and Pat, Maureen and Mike, Pam and Joe, Sally and Bob, and Dan and Pat's guest couple, Sal and Nancy Silipino.

The dinner started with appetizers brought by Sally and Bob. Chicken and Cheese Quesadillas were piled high. They were served with Guacamole and Sour cream for dipping and some home made, fresh salsa to top em off.

Next we found our way to the table and all grabbed a seat. Pam and Joe brought the soup which was a delicious cold vegetable soup known as Gazpacho. A spicy blend of tomato and vegetables with a bit of fresh jalepino pepper.

Next, everyone filled their wine glasses or grabbed another beer and got ready for the main event.

Our entrée for the evening, created by Dan and Pat, was a dish called "ASADO LA PLAZA SINALOENSE" or Sinaloa-Style Meat and Vegetables. A combination of meat, fried potatoes, zucchini and other fresh vegetables all served with a warm tomato and oregano sauce and served with corn tortillas.

Our side dish, brought by Maureen and Mike, was a classic Mexican dish of Corn on the Cob, grilled in its own husks till juicy and sweet, served with different spicy butters. She also brought a spicy black bean salad that she happened to whip together.

Time for coffee and dessert!

As the coffee was served up, our guest Nancy Silipino, served the dessert she and Sal brought. They made a Fried Banana Flam be. Fried bananas in a butter Rum sauce, set on fire….. Quite exotic and a fitting way to end another fabulous Gourmet Dinner Club gathering.

This was our first dinner without Kathy and Jack who decided to leave the club.

Here is our other guest for the evening. Sal and Nancy's little girl Niki.
