7-18-09 Our Summer Barbeque

We had a terrific dinner last night at Jim and Judy’s house. Ribs, Corn, Shrimp and more!! Jim and Judy’s guest were Ben and Jenn who brought the appetizers which started us off on our summer feast. So our appetizers consisted of some Shrimp-K- Bobs and a unique ceation of Mac and Cheese with Bacon on baguet slices. Very tastey!! Also Jimmy made some of his fried Crab Balls and homemade dipping sauce.

After letting the appetizers settle a bit we sat down and had some salad that the Rinker’s brought. Summer greens and home made blueberry vinegrette dressing.

Next soup that the Browne’s made. Coconut Shrimp Soup. Shrimp cooked in a broth of coconut milk, lime and toasted coriander. A nice refreshing light soup as the prelude to our main dish.

Okay we needed a little rest again so we sat around and chatted a little bit about the book “Cooking Club” that talks about our club and even mentions our names.

A while ago a woman contacted Annette and intervied her about our club. After she wrote her book she sent a copy to Annette that she brough and shared with us last night. Pretty cool.

Okay time for the Main Event. Jimmy cooked up a delicious batch of Ribs with his own barbeque sauce. These ribs were absolutely mouth watering. Sauce was sweet and spicey and the meat just fell off the bones. Some fresh corn on the cob was also served up along with some grilled vegetable slices Anntette and Rink made. Nice!!!

After a couple after dinner drinks Judy brought out dessert. Home made pound cake with fresh fruit and whipped cream. Perfect ending to a fantastic meal.

We missed Mike and Maureen at last nights dinner but we partied the best we could without them.

Thanks go out to Jim and Judy for hosting a nice dinner and also Thanks to our guests, and new friends, Ben and Jenn who as first time guests jumped right in there and added some great food to our meal.

Barbeque Dinner Tonight

Did someone say RIBS!

Party in Medford tonight at Jim and Judy’s. An evening barbeque is in order and Jimmy’s makin’ ribs. Should be nice. We will miss Mike and Maureen who can’t make it but we’ll just have to party on without them. We’ll let you know how it goes!!

Club Dinner July 18 2009

Our next club dinner party is a “GO” for next Saturday Night. July 18th 2009. The dinner is at Jim and Judy’s house and the theme is Backyard Barbeque. Jim and Judy’s friend and guest for the dinner will be Ben who is doing his barbeque chichen recipe and Jim is making RIBS. Judy says to bring bathing suits and towels for a late night dip in the hot tub. So thats the plan and we’ll see you all then.

Dinner at the Werts

As long as we get confirmation from everyone it looks like our next dinner is going to be July 18th at Jim and Judy’s house. No theme yet but we’ll find out soon.

Our Jamaican Feast 2/7/09

Here is the run down on what we ate at our Jamaican Dinner.

All of the dishes were very authentic and I think we all did a great job with the theme. Everything was delicious!

Dinner started out with appetizers that the Rinker’s brought. Hot Yam dip and Pan Fied Plantain chips. The dip was spicy and the chips were sweet. Nice combination of flavors.

Next we had soup made by our own “Cheif Soup Chef”, Jim. It was his own Black Bean Soup recipe which fit the theme perfectly.

Then we had “Festival Rice Salad” served cold and made with rice, coconut, and cashews with a tropical orange dressing. Sally and Bob brought the Jamaican salad.

Now came the Main Event, Our Dinner Plate of the evening and it was packed. Maureen and Mike made Coconut Fried Chicken and a Curry Shrimp dish. Sally and Bob made a side dish, Jerk Swordfish Kabobs. Carol brought a fruit slaw and there was also a nut bread.

After we rested, we all seemed to find room for the dessert that Samantha and Brad brought. A deliciously sweet bread pudding that topped the feast off perfectly. With a cup of good coffee, and Maureen’s Irish Cream it was perfect!

Man that was good!

Had a blast in Jamaica!

Last nights Jamaican Dinner is now part of Gourmet Dinner Club history. A fantastic feast of authentic Jamaican cuisine. Plus being at Mike and Maureens house with beer on tap and all the other beverages we had to sample it was a major party!! Mike and Mareen outdid themselves as they always do and hosted an excellent party. We were glad to have our guest couples with us, Gus & Carol and Brad & Samatha. Both couples have been to our dinners before and we had a great night! Only bad thing about the evening was the absence of Judy Wert who was home sick. Hope your feeling better Judy!!

A big Thank You goes out to Mike and Maureen and everyone else that attended and helped make last night party another one to remember.

Dinner Tonight at The Rinkers

Tonight is the night!!

Our Gourmet Dinner Club holds it’s last gathering of 2008 tonight at the Rinkers house. Rink has told me that their guest couple will be a friend from work and his wife. Talking with Judy yesterday she told me that she heard were having Pot Pies for our “Comfort Foods” themed dinner. So here we go. Get hungry and get ready to party!! See you all there!
